Van de Velde realizes increase in sales (even without Sardá) in the first half of 2009

Van de Velde shows a growth of the consolidated sales with 7.8% (Sardá included) in the first half of 2009. But even without the Sardá sales there is an increase in sales of 1% compared to 2008.

In the framework of a purchase program initiated to buy own shares in order to destroy them, Van de Velde nv has during the month of December 2008 bought 41,911 own shares at an average price of 22.70 EUR.

Van de Velde restructures production by transferring capacity from Eastern Europe primarily to Tunisia

As part of the restructuring of its production, Van de Velde has announced a declaration of intent to close its production plant in Szekszard, Hungary, which employs 345 people. Van de Velde will clearly strictly comply with all statutory procedures and, in the event of complete closure, negotiate a fair redundancy scheme with the employees. A small percentage of the workforce may be able to move to other production plants of the group (Belgium, Spain, Tunisia).
